To reach Paradise Beach (about a 5-minute walk), home to Ranlakshmi Beach Paradise and the renowned Walatha Seafood Restaurant, walk from the main gate about 100 meters up the street and turn left. The prevailing onshore ocean breeze varies in strength but generally provides Aliya Watunu Hena with a cool and airy atmosphere so it doesn't need air-conditioning. To stay cool and comfortable at night, switch the mosquito control device on, open the window or sliding door in the Cabin fully, lower the breathable mosquito blind and use the ceiling fan. This creates natural cross-ventilation.

☐ TRANSPORTATION — We'll gladly arrange your transportation for friendly prices at your request. A passenger car with a professional driver to the BIA/Colombo airport is Rs. 30,000. Please WhatsApp Ladi and Mila. For short-distance tuk-tuk rides, we suggest downloading the PickMe mobile app. You can also hire Vishmi with her own tuk-tuk (prices to be discussed directly). There is a bus stop at the main road at the convenience shop — just 550 meters or a 7-minute walk from Aliya Watunu Hena. Take a blue bus in the direction of Tangalle or Matara.
☐ UMBRELLA — Although Unakuruwa is located in Sri Lanka's dry zone with low annual rainfall, the rain here is warm, short, and beautiful. Sri Lanka is affected by two monsoon seasons: Yala (southwest monsoon, usually May to September) and Maha (northeast monsoon, usually October to January). If you're coming during either season, just borrow one of the umbrellas so that the rain does not spoil your day.
☐ WASTE SORTING — Please help us properly separate the waste as it's mandatory in Sri Lanka. You can find three different bins in the backyard of the Main House. All plastics go to the orange bin. Glass goes to the blue bin. Bio waste goes to the brown bin. Residual waste goes to the indoor bin. Please call or WhatsApp Vishmi if you want to get rid of hazardous waste such as batteries during your stay.
